This article explains the "Make an Offer" feature on Vestiaire Collective. This negotiation tool allows you to propose lower prices on items you love, helping you secure better deals on authentic pre-loved luxury items. Whether you're new to the platform or a seasoned shopper, this guide covers making offers, responding to counteroffers, and understanding the negotiation process.
The Make an Offer option allows you to offer a lower price for an item and submit it for the Seller’s consideration - so if you’re up for a little haggling, this could be great for you.
Sellers can choose whether or not to enable this option on their items, so if you can’t see Make an Offer on an item’s listing it means the Seller has chosen not to activate it.
❗Important
When you Make an Offer, it can’t be less than 70% of the original sale price. So if a jacket is on sale for £100, your offer can’t be lower than £70.
Once you’ve made your offer, the seller has 48 hours to:
- Accept the offer
- Decline it
- Make a counter-offer
If your offer is accepted by the seller, you have 24 hours to confirm your order.
Is the Buyer Service Fee included when I make an offer?
Yes. The Buyer Service Fee is included and will not be added on later. You can click the information icon to see the breakdown of fees in the negotiation area.
💡 Good to know - If the seller makes a counter offer and you agree to it, you are not obligated to place the order, but the offer will expire after 1 hour.
How do I make a counter-offer ?
If the seller has made an offer and you want to keep haggling, you can make your own counter offer.
First, log in to your account. You'll find all your current offers by following these steps:
On the App: Me → Price Offers
On the Website: My Account → Orders & Sales → Ongoing negotiations
Click the item concerned, then go to View the Negotiating Area to make a new offer.
You can also access the Negotiation Area directly from the item’s page.
💡 Good to know - When you make an offer on an item, it’s still available to purchase at the original price for the rest of the Vestiaire Collective community.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I accepted the seller's counter-offer but didn't complete the purchase within 24 hours. How can I still buy the item?
A: You'll need to initiate a new offer at the previously agreed price. Simply navigate back to the item's listing page and click the "Make an Offer" button to start again.
Q: Why did the seller see a different price than what I offered?
A: As a buyer, your offers are based on the total price including Vestiaire Collective's buyer service fee. The amount you see represents your complete payment if the seller accepts.
The seller sees a different amount because what they receive excludes the buyer service fee. This explains why there appears to be a difference in the negotiated amounts.
Q: If a seller accepts an offer am I obliged to purchase?
A: You're not obliged to purchase the item however we encourage you to make offers on items that you're committed to purchasing if the offer is accepted. By accepting an offer, the seller agrees to your price and places the item on hold for 24 hours so you can purchase. Please be considerate of a seller's time and be prepared to follow through within 24 hours.
Q: I've had an offer accepted, but now want to make a lower offer after discussing with the seller. How can we proceed?
A: Once the accepted offer has expired, you can make a new offer. However, if the original offer is still active, you'll need to wait until it expires.
Q: Why can't I see the items I've made offers on anymore?
A: If you've made offers on items and can no longer find them, here's why:

Q: I accepted an offer but can't complete the purchase. Is there a bug?
A: Another buyer may have completed their purchase just moments before you accepted the offer.
Q: What happens if a seller doesn't respond to my offer?
A: If a seller doesn't respond to your offer, it will automatically expire after 48 hours. You can try reaching out to the seller directly through the buyer-seller chat by clicking on "contact seller" to negotiate another price or express your continued interest.
