Deleting your account results in the deletion of all data it contains, with the exception of data that Vestiaire Collective is obligated to retain, particularly for legal reasons, for the exercise and defense of its rights, or due to its legitimate interest that persists.
What happens when you request to delete your account?
When you confirm that you wish to delete your account, you are logged out and your account becomes technically "deactivated," which means it is no longer publicly visible on our platform and you can no longer log into it. While your account is deactivated, the account and the data it contains continue to exist in our system.
What are the next steps?
Your account will remain deactivated for 30 days before being permanently deleted (subject to additional retention periods that we must comply with - see below).
Why 30 days?
This 30-day period allows you to change your mind by contacting our customer service and gives us time to carry out the necessary checks to ensure that there are no obstacles to deleting the account.
What are the obstacles to deleting an account?
Your account will not be immediately deleted in the cases described below.
- Ongoing Transaction
Vestiaire Collective has detected an ongoing transaction: in this case, your account deletion request is suspended until the transaction (sale or purchase) is completely finalized or canceled. As soon as the transaction is finalized or canceled, your account and its data will be automatically deleted without any action required on your part.
- Ongoing Dispute
Vestiaire Collective has detected an ongoing dispute (customer service, carrier, payment, etc.) and a complaint ticket is still open in our system: in this case, your account deletion request is suspended until the dispute is completely finalized or canceled. As soon as the dispute is closed, your account and its data will be automatically deleted without any action required on your part. Important: the history of disputes is retained despite the account deletion request for a period of 1 year from closure and for a maximum period of 5 years according to the applicable statute of limitations.
- Fraudulent Activity
Vestiaire Collective has detected fraudulent activity on your account and following our automatic email informing you of this, you have not provided the necessary evidence to establish the absence of fraudulent activity (e.g., by transmitting a purchase invoice).
In this case, Vestiaire Collective will retain your account and its data to prevent any new fraudulent activity (directly or indirectly) due to the legitimate interest we have in ensuring the security of the platform and our members.
We will keep the account and its data for a maximum of 5 years according to the applicable statute of limitations in France.
During this period, you can contact us at any time to request a manual review of your situation by our anti-fraud teams (if your account was automatically deactivated by our fraud detection and prevention tool) or to send us the requested documents so that your account is no longer identified as "fraudulent" if applicable.
Will I receive confirmation of the deletion of my account?
No, you will only hear from us if we are unable to delete your account or if we need to send you your annual sales summary (subject to eligibility).
If there are no obstacles to deleting my account, will all my data be deleted?
No, because in certain cases, we have a legal obligation to retain accounting records. This is particularly the case if you have made a sale or purchase on our platform. In this case, your account will be deleted but the data from your transaction will be kept for a period of 10 years.
