When an order is placed with authenticated shipping for an item containing precious stones or jewellery, it is entrusted to the care of our jewellery experts or gemologists.

Please be aware that Vestiaire Collective does not provide any warranty or take responsibility for the accuracy, condition, or information provided in certificates or reports related to the items. Additionally, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of stone descriptions or other item descriptions, such as the country of origin. Without a certificate provided by the seller, the buyer should consider that the stone might have undergone treatment.

During the authentication and quality control process, our expert team of gemologists will:

• With the exception of diamonds, distinguish precious stones from semi-precious and decorative stones;
• Distinguish natural stones from imitation or synthetic stones (e.g. Fluorite, Spinel, Synthetic Spinel Verneuil process, Garnet, Quartz, Beryl, Tourmaline, Topaz, Peridot, Chrysoberyl, Corundum, Synthetic process Corundum Verneuil, Zircon, Chalcedony, imitation stones);
• Verify all the most common stones used in jewellery (eg Fluorite, Spinel, Garnet, Quartz, Beryl, Tourmaline, Topaz, Peridot, Chrysoberyl, Corundum, Zircon, Chalcedony);
• Identify any inclusions of natural gems.

💡 Good to know: When we talk about “inclusions” in gemstones, we are talking about any materials naturally trapped within a mineral as it forms. This could be crystals, gas bubbles, or even tiny fractures - all these are called “inclusions”.
