Our authenticators and controllers have trained extensively at our Vestiaire Academy, which specializes in honing the skills required to instantly recognize authenticity and the industry standards of fashion brands. The Vestiaire Academy is our way of ensuring we have the best experts and the most up-to-date knowledge in the world.

Digital Authentication

Every item submitted to Vestiaire Collective to be sold digitally is checked for accuracy, and certain high-risk brands are also checked for authenticity, before being published on the platform. To do this, we use a mixture of human expertise and cutting-edge AI, removing an average of 8% of items* without them ever being listed on Vestiaire Collective. Only approved items make it onto our platform, ensuring you can shop with confidence.

Physical Authentication

When an order is placed with Authenticated Shipping, the item is sent directly by the seller to one of our five international hubs for physical authentication and thorough quality control checks.

To verify the authenticity, our experts verify several check points from the packaging to the invoice, including the material, finishes, typography and stitching, serial number and engraving. All these expertise – and years of experience – are put to use every time an item is authenticated at one of our hubs.

Quality Control

Once items have been authenticated, they go straight to our quality control team. These experts carefully check the item to verify that everything is exactly as described by the seller, and that the buyer’s expectations will be met. Quality control checks in particular include:
