This article explains the "Make an Offer" feature on Vestiaire Collective. This functionality allows buyers and sellers to negotiate prices. Understanding this feature helps you maximize sales while maintaining control over your pricing strategy. This guide covers setup, handling offers, and common negotiation questions.
The Make an Offer function allows potential buyers to make a lower offer on an item - so if you're open to a little haggling, this option is perfect for you!
As the seller, it's completely up to you whether you activate this function or not - you're the boss!
The offer made by a buyer can only be up to 30% lower than the price you have set for the sale. So if you’re selling a jacket for £100, the offer made by the potential buyer will never be lower than £70.
Is the buyer service fee included when a buyer makes me an offer?
No, the buyer service fee is not included in the offer price. The amount you will earn is displayed in the negotiation area.
At any time you can choose to:
- Turn on Make an Offer for all your items
- Turn Make an Offer off for all your items
- Choose individual items on which to activate Make an Offer
Here’s how to change your preferences:
On the App: Me → Listings → Click the gear icon ⚙️ (top right corner)
On the Website: My account → Listings → My offers - Settings
Then click Set up/Configure
Then choose the options you prefer!
When you receive an offer, you have up to 48 hours to accept, decline or make a counter-offer.
If you accept the offer, the buyer has 24 hours to complete their order.
If you make a counter-offer which is accepted by the buyer, they have one hour to complete their order before the offer expires.
💡 Good to know - If a member makes an offer, your item will remain on display to other members browsing the site at the original price.
Making a Counter Offer
If you’ve received an offer via the Make an Offer option on your listing, you have 48 hours to accept it, reject it or make a counter offer. If you’d like to find out more about using Make an Offer as a buyer, 🔍 click here.
To get back to a potential buyer with a counter-offer, first log in to your Account:
On the App: Me → My Items → Negotiations
On the Website: My Account → Orders & Sales → Negotiation in Progress
From here, you can accept or decline the offer, or make a counter-offer.
You can also access the Negotiation Area directly from your item’s listing.
When you make a counter offer, your potential buyer will have 1 hour to place their order, but are not obliged to do so.

Q: Why do I see a different price than what the buyer offered?
A: As a buyer, the offers are formulated based on the item's price, including the buyer service fee. The negotiated price reflects the total amount to be paid if the seller accepts the offer.
As a seller, you see a different amount because what you receive exclude the buyer service fee, which explains this divergence in amounts.
